Spousal Deafness...
and Other Bones of Contention Whose house is this anyway? Real life husband and wife Carlisle and Poulin combine original songs, sketch comedy, and 2D painted props to explore the wacky world of relationships. Watch Gordon and Susan tackle the really big issues: romance, underwear, vacation negotiation, and spousal deafness, to name a few. Sound familiar? Youll feel like someones been eavesdropping on your home!
The dialogue is tight and snappy, the songs -- all Carlisle originals -- are melodic and catchy. "Idiotic Haircut," a bouncy ditty about the feminine addiction to staying contemporarily coiffed, is a show-stopper, and "Testosterone," a tongue-in-cheek ode to all things excessively manly, isn't far behind. A riotous rumination on married life.... Spousal Deafness...and Other Bones of Contention is funny and interesting because of its intelligent writing.... Carlisle's songs are hilarious. This lively jog through the conundrums of connubial life is, most of all, irresistable comedy in two acts. The pair's chemistry is as much responsible for the fun as their shrewd observations about the wedded state. Two of Maine’s finest humorists, Susan Poulin and Gordon Carlisle, have taken an age-old conflict, and given it a contemporary twist in this fine, witty and funny production. High energy! Deft, quirky comic timing!
